Mental Health--Look to Spirituality not toward the world for answers

This could really cover a ton of issues, every issue.
But Right now, the first issue--

This has bothered me so much, I woke early after 3 hours of sleep-that I HAD to finally write these thoughts down..This issue has weighed on my mind for a long while. Years.

Improvements must be made.

1) STOP telling people-siblings, patients, anyone, to take anti-depressants, drugs, so solve mental problems.

--therapists, family members, and anyone else thinks drugging everyone up; mess with peoples brains, will cure relationship problems, or cure problems that could be solved by simple and free ( not buying pills, not paying therapists etc )answers and solutions. You do not have to have tons of money to be at peace and to have happiness in your life. You do not have to destroy your mind or body to gain peace and happiness. You do not have to be dependent on a pill or  person or external things for peace and happiness.

The gospel-sciptures-prayer-living gospel principles--immersing self--God--is the answer

Why do individuals  act so quick to turn to the world and so slow to turn to scriptures, prayer, fasting, and turn toward God?

Why are individuals so slow to turn toward truth?

If you truly love someone, you will help them using truth.

It is  hugely detrimental to think drugs is the answer.

It is NOT  okay. This is serious. Many people know this issue is serious, but not many are doing anything about it. Or many people do now know what to do or how to go about it.

Lack of God  in ones life and iniquities in ones life cause some problems {Alma 41:10 "wickedness never was happiness."}

Jesus Christ is the answer! Repentance, forgiveness, living the commandments is the answer. Studying conference talks on different subjects you need more understanding in.

I promis you that applying gospel principles to ones life is what will cure every single issue in life.

The Book of Mormon has answers to evey problem in the world.

Did you know that?

Study the scriptures, live worthy of the holy ghost so you can be inspired on how to handle things in your own life, for own self, and to help others. But some things will do not good, if the person you are helping does not want to repent (change)and change spiritually. Spiritual change is the answer. That is the cure. Not turning to drugs.

Focus on truth. Seek truth. Study every church book. Study the scriptures

Gospel doctrine understood {and lived} will change attitude and behavior {quicker and better than any other source}.

"The study of the doctrines of the gospel will improve behavior quicker than the study of behavior will improve {change} behavior." --as spoken/written by Boyd K. Packer.

It disturbs, bothers me greatly, how people are so quick to think taking pills {prescription} is a cure all..its a quick fix, that does not even fix, but suppreses emotion and suppresses the brain, thinking, reasoning. We should not be altering the mind. Alcohol and illegal drugs are no different, they change brain chemicals and thinking--that is very unhealthy as well..that is not the answer.

I am smart enough to know that there are FAR better answers and solutions to :
depression
anxiety
breaking down
thinking your going crazy
thinking they are going crazy

Answers

Prayer
Meditation
Faith
Trust
Getting outside your comfort zone
Effort, stop being slothful
Courage to do whats right
Serving others--helping others, gets you off being self-absorbed
Talking about blessings, rather than problems
Talking about the good things in life
Developing skills, talents, and sharing them with others
Taking a hard look at ones lifestyle and changing it
Focusing on Truth & Light
Being in tune with the Holy Ghost

Of course they are depressed--look at their lifestyle-ask them what they are doing--observe what is going on. Be aware. Look at truth.

there are definite things that will disturb peoples minds, brains, lives, behaviors  and prevent sleeping well at night--that is by not living the way we know we need to be living. By not doing what we know deep down we need to be doing. We all know. We just need to do it.

How about offering  to pray with them, offer them to get a priesthood blessing, read scriptures to them, explain the atonement to them, explain to them who they are--a child--son or daughter of a loving, forgiving, merciful God. How often have you taken time to talk to this person, or spend quality time with this person. How often have you called them or messaged them? How often have you asked questions about their life, taken interest, supported them and encouraged them in their goals? Most likely it has not been often enough. They need support and love, and a sense of belonging.....most often though..the person needing help..needs to help themselves..ponder- think deeply about who one is, what they believe, who they want to become, and what they must do to become that.

We all have gifts, talents, skills--to share with the world

We should not be forced to suppress them..We should not be labeled as "crazy" or any other word.

The world thinks everything is a problem, everything is negative---we need to change perceptions
attitudes need to change

We should be proud of who we are and gifts {talents, skills}we have--family, friends, leaders, should not be putting us down for "bad behaviors" when all that needs to happen is to turn certain attitudes and behaviors into strengths instead of weaknesses. Turn weaknesses into strengths

Having traits such as : stubborn, opinionated, passionate for example is not bad when used properly. When used in a healthy manner.

Everything can be good or "bad" but we can turn the negatives into positives.

There are solutions..

Daily list:

  •  Eat food filled with nutrition
  • Exercise
  • Sleep at a regular time - go to bed each night and wake up at the same time daily--balancing hormones and emotions, it regulates your body and your brain
  •  Pray morning and night, and prayer in heart all day
  •  Read scriptures--to understand truth and apply it
  • Keep the commandments, discover higher laws to live by--be not slothful, be not commanded in all things, we need to discover higher laws, more commandments on our own, to live by
  •  Alone time-ponder, write, reflect
  •  Make time daily to work on hobbies, skills, talents
  •  serve/volunteer/help those around you -find those around you who needs help---listening ear, a card in the mail, visit children, visit elderly, talk to your child, take interest in others, talk to your spouse, enjoy time spent together, visit neighbors, visit the sick,
  • talk to family members regularly
  • spend time with family as much as possible-make time for them-they need to be a priority-being around family recharges us
  • talk to friends on a regular basis-it recharges and re-energizes you
  • validation
  • journal write
  • read good books; read from the best literature
  • watch uplifting films
  • listen to uplifting, inspiring music..such as classical music, christian music, songs with good lyrics. that promote a healthy lifestyle
  • learning, living, teaching self-reliance mentally and spiritually
  • seeing the good in others, see the good in every situation and in every experience.
  • Learn from your mistakes, do the best you can, try, put forth effort, never give up
  • Forgive yourself--its okay to fall short, we are on earth to progress
  • Count your blessings
  • participate in meaningful and productive activities--not being idle
  • live with integrity-be honest, open, communicate your needs to others
faith not fear

do not take counsel from your fears
Idleness invites negativity prevents you from achieving your to do list, goals, plans for the day; idelness lowers self-esteem and self-worth.

Church attendance and visiting temple grounds. Seeking ways to be closer to Heavenly Father

importance of church; support whenever lose a job, illness, when weak spirited and need to be uplifted and encouraged and supported, family, belonging, feel loved, place you can trust people, place where you may feel others trust you, you never have to question where to turn to or who to turn to in any time of need..mentally, physically, spiritually, it uplifts every part of our life.

Thinking more, analyzing more, pondering more. Being alone, fully alone and thinking..clearly with no distractions

repentance and forgiveness, on a daily basis, being productive instead of idle, working, changing little lifestyle thoughts, attitudes, behaviors, addictions. Having self-control and mastery over our thoughts. Turning toward positive affirmations, positive thoughts, uplifting thoughts,
uplifting: music, films, books, people, places, events

Put the LORD first in all things, and everything will either fall into place or drop out of our lives. Priorities will be discovered....similar to a quote by Ezra Taft Benson-{past prophet of LDS church}

It is okay to be sad, mad, concerned.
Use your emotions, feelings, to make things happen..to push you, to empower you to take action, to make changes.

Yes feelings matter. Yes emotions matter..but do something productive about them. Turn it into something positive.

"Look to God and live."  Alma 37

"Idleness has no place in the church, ..repent." D&C 75.

"With faith you can overcome all things."

"Be believing."

"Save yourselves. "

Its okay to relax. But relax productively. Read, write, work on hobbies, skills. Take a walk, go run. Exercise helps our brains and bodies tremendously.

I am Strong, Smart and Capable!

One day when I was dualing satan in the shower
my thought were getting away--my control
But I regained control by saying back at him

"I am strong, smart and capable!"

That stuck with me..it really made me think..I loved it..it was empowering, inspiring,  inspiration that  I needed, and that has helped me later on.

Maybe it will help you fight off satan

"I am strong, smart and capable!"

do not tell me that I am inadequate, worthless, weak, and not able. ..even if you do tell me, I know better. I know who I am. I know Whose I am.

I will fight back with empowerment, uplifting, motivational, cheer.
My power {rather, Heavenly Fathers power} will be greater.
Light will fill my mind
I have the strength and power.
I will never let that go to another power or source

Meekness

"Blessed are the meek, for they are neither easily offended by counsel nor aggravated by admonition. If we were more meek, brothers and sisters, repentance would be much more regular and less stared at." Neal. A. Maxwell "
Repentance"

"when free of major transgression, we can develop self-contentment instead of seeking self-improvement."..

see Alma 10:4-6

And behold, I am also a man of no small reputation among all those who know me; yea, and behold, I have many kindreds and friends, and I have also acquired much riches by the hand of my industry.
Nevertheless, after all this, I never have known much of the ways of the Lord, and his mysteries and marvelous power. I said I never had known much of these things; but behold, I mistake, for I have seen much of his mysteries and his marvelous power; yea, even in the preservation of the lives of this people.

Nevertheless, I did harden my heart, for I was called many times and I would not hear; therefore I knew concerning these things, yet I would not know; therefore I went on rebelling against God, in the wickedness of my heart, even until the fourth day of this seventh month, which is in the tenth year of the reign of the judges.

Remember, Remember, Remember

you are NOT your past. Your past DOES NOT define you. You CAN move forward with faith, hope, love, respect for yourself and others. Be your OWN hero and SAVE yourself. Be your own BEST friend. LOVE yourself. CHEER yourself on. Motivate yourself. Trust yourself. Be TRUE to yourself. Keep the promises you make to yourself. Build yourself up. Nourish your mind with PURE, clean, uplifting thoughts. CHOOSE to act with integrity. Choose to live a good life. Choose peace and happiness.

Be Your Own Hero & Save Yourself

Many years ago I realized I would have to live with myself for the rest of my life...24/7. I thought, "I better well get to know myself."

I decided that day that I would learn to like myself. I would learn to live. I would learn to love myself. I would learn to get to know myself.

Ever since, I have lived by this..."Be your own hero and save yourself"
that is what came to me. I love it!

I motivate myself, I love myself, I became my own best friend. I learned to trust myself. I learned that I had the power and control. I learned that it was up to me, to put my life into my own hands.

I could either hate myself and be miserable or love myself and be happy.

I wanted and needed peace and happiness. I wanted and needed hope.

I looked for hope.

What I found was: prayer when all else failed. Scriptures to feel the Spirit come over me, comfort, love, and warmth. I thought about my nieces and nephews and how I needed to live for them. I thought about the gospel. I thought about hope. I thought about change.

I learned to rely on myself. I can do better. I can be better. I can build myself up. I can empower myself. I can inspire myself. I can motivate myself. I can love myself. I learned to rely on Heavenly Father and the Holy Ghost for everything. I learned to listen to the Holy ghost, I learned to be in tune. I learned to be aware of Heavenly Fathers inspiration. I learned to ponder, reflect, evaluate. I learned to be aware and mindful. I learned to the only source of peace..heavenly father, the spirit, the scriptures, the gospel principles, etc

I learned that attitude is a choice. I learned that happiness is a choice. I learned that peace is a choice.

I turned to scriptures. MY favorite verse was and is D&C 68:6 "Be of good cheer and do not fear for I the Lord am with you and will stand by you."

Also Joshua 1:9 "Have not I commanded thee to be strong and of a good courage?"

Alma 33-38

There are great verses everywhere...I truly love the scriptures and I feast upon the words written. Every time I read them I am empowered, uplifted, receive hope, peace and joy. I am renewed.

I would rather live to inspire. I would rather live to uplift, encourage, motivate, and love.

Every moment is a chance for change. Each moment is a gift. Each moment is a chance for freedom.

I promise you there is hope, there is peace, there is joy. these things DO exist. We must seek out the beauty in this world. We must count our blessings. We must turn to our Savior.

I also learned {by pondering, how I learned everything that I have learned }that because of my experiences I can help others. I have understanding, compassion, I have empathy, I have wisdom, I have strength to give others. I have hope to give others. I have purpose and meaning. I have passion. I have opinions because I educate myself, I read books, I pay attention when others speak. We are all able. We are all capable. We are all strength to give to others. We must let love in. We must let healing begin.

We are MORE than CONQUERORS!

I believe "we are all MORE than CONQUERORS! Through Him that loved us"..Romans 8:37

This for some reason, has been on my mind tonight..

I also googled it and this came up--

https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2011/04/more-than-conquerors-through-him-that-loved-us?lang=eng

Its a lovely talk.

I want to share my thoughts--

I believe we are all capable, strong, souls. We can do it! We can endure! We can believe! We can STAY strong! We can focus and emphasize on the positive. We can be at peace. If we are not at peace, we can pray for peace. Get down on your knees and plead with Your Maker. Pour your hearts out to him. He is there for us 24/7. Anywhere, and anytime. I promise you this. I have had many dark nights in my life, but beautiful mornings came after it. There is hope, peace and joy in this world. You must open up to Him about your needs, your wants, your desires. He will send you help. Be SPECIFIC. For example I have told Heavenly Father--"I can not do this any longer, I need help, I need peace, I need assurance, I need answers, I need help! I have not figured some things out, I want to learn, I am willing to hear whatever you want to tell me. But my life is feeling empty right now, and I need help finding meaning and purpose to my life right now." He will send you strength and he will send you peace. I know it is true, because I have had it happen so many times in my personal life.

There are many times, where I was at the end of my ropes, literally felt like I could not go on anymore. I said a prayer, that is all I could do. He sent people, or things to bless my life. Sometimes its been flowers, birds, children nearby, or someone stopping to say hi to me, sometimes all he sent was peace. That is all I needed.

I believe we are CONQUERORS! We are powerful. We have ability. We have skills. We have talents. We are unique. We are all on earth for a purpose. We are all here to help those around us. Many times we are unaware, but just because we are unaware, does not discount that we are needed. We are needed! We must believe. Go out and find someone who needs you. There is always someone in the world that needs us. Children, the elderly, any random person needs help, kids, need help with school work, others need help getting yard work done, some need someone to cook or bake for them, some need a listening ear, to tell their story. There are many simple things, all different areas. There are those around us who need our particular skill, who need our particular knowledge. Others need from us what we have already learned and been taught because of life. We each have been through certain trials and experiences to help others, to help certain people get through their trials presently or in the future, we have learned and remained strong in trials,  there were people that helped us during our own trials, so now it is our turn to help others to endure and to move forward and to seek direction, peace, that they are desperately seeking. Pay it forward.

We have, we can, and we will continue to conquer. I believe this and I know this from experience of my own, and watching others endure, live cheerfully, moved on from past failures, past rejections, past mistakes, past faults, past sins. We can be made pure again. We can ask Heavenly Father for forgiveness in all things. We can turn to him and start living. We can .

One HUGE thing I have noticed is too much time on our hands, being IDLE, is a huge dilemma and problem I would say in our society causing many problems. MY advice and counsel is that we need to always stay productive, have goals and things we need to be working on. Keep FOCUS! that is the key. Do things that are meaningful or productive. Staying on task. Eliminating all addictions such as being online too much. Using technology too much. I think that is huge for all of us, including me. There is a time and a place for all things. Many things are great, but remember moderation..BALANCE! Time-management. Goal-setting. Creates confidence, joy and peace to our souls.

I have been blessed

August 3, 2012

I have been blessed...wraps up my life..great song by Martina Mcbride.

I have been blessed
I feel like I have found my way
I thank God for all I have been given at the end of every day
I have been blessed
with so much more than I deserve

I feel so filled with light, joy, happiness, peace, these days
It is the most wonderful feeling.
For the past 7-8 months I felt more lost, seeking fake happiness, through materials, and through spending way too much time with other peopel,,seeking external things for my happiness..
I am now regaining my life back again, Renewing my relationship with myself. I am getting to know myself again.

FLY--Hillary Duff
"open the part of you that wants to hide away
you can shine
forget about all the reasons why you cant in life
and start to try
cause its your time to fly."
